Earls Hall Assembly

As part of Earls Hall Junior School's “Multicultural Week” recently, they had a series of lessons and assemblies on the theme of Southend as a multicultural community. It was inspired by the contribution that the school was making to the “Holocaust Day Exhibition” to be held in the Southend Central Library. The school contacted our Centre and asked if we could do an assembly about Southend United’s stance on multiculturalism and racism. We were delighted to accept and on Tuesday 23rd January Malcolm Bellamy, Assistant Centre Manager, went along to the school.

The message was made quite clearly that Southend United, along with all the other English League clubs, accepts that we are now living in a multiracial community and that any form of racism shown towards players will not be tolerated. The children then had the opportunity to see the two flags that were used at the “Kick Racism Out of Football” match. It was a great opportunity for the children to see what we have done here at the Southend United Study Support Centre to fight racism and spread the word about living peacefully with each other in a multicultural community.
